{July 13, 2017} IMPERIAL, MO – Jordan Sanders, a rising senior at Seckman High School, scored a perfect 36 on the ACT exam this June. The ACT is a standardized test administered to students nationally that impacts not only college admissions, but financial aid for community college, university, and technical programs.

“Achieving a perfect score on this test is extremely difficult and a rare achievement,” said Dr. Nisha Patel, Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education at Fox C-6. “We’re incredibly proud of Jordan for this accomplishment.”

Seckman High Principal Todd Scott reiterated Dr. Patel, saying “Jordan is an outstanding student at SHS. He is a dedicated student that has taken advantage of the high quality education that Seckman High School provides. We are extremely proud of his achievement and look forward to seeing what the future holds for him,” Scott said. “Scoring a 36 on the ACT is a huge achievement for Jordan.” In addition to the ACT score, Jordan was also recognized by the National Merit program for his score on the PSAT.

Over the past few years, the district has placed an emphasis on providing additional supports for students, including those taking standardized tests. “The ACT is incredibly important,” said Superintendent Jim Wipke. “Over the past two years and into this year, we have put a process in place that we believe will help our students achieve more - including achievement on the ACT,” Dr. Wipke said. “To name a few initiatives around the ACT, we have increased the number of AP students and students taking AP exams; increased the number of students taking the PSAT and the number of students becoming National Merit semifinalists and finalists;  began an ACT prep course over the summer and most recently hired a high school gifted educator.” Additionally, the district offers an ACT prep course that helps prepare students for the exam. “This course, along with our incredibly talented teaching staff, do a tremendous job of helping our students find success on this exam,” Wipke said. These initiatives, according to Wipke, are already paying off. “A perfect score is just remarkable we are all very proud of Jordan.  Students in our district have the ability to compete with students all over the Nation!”
