{April 15, 2021} ARNOLD, MO –The Fox C-6 School District congratulates Ms. Nicole Heitert of Seckman Middle School for being named the 2020-2021 Fox C-6 District Teacher of the Year!

Ms. Heitert has been an educator for 16 years and currently teaches middle school science at Seckman Middle. In addition to teaching, Nicole is an active member of the Seckman Middle School Community and founded an after-school program for at-risk girls that teaches character-based lessons. “I hope that students leave my classroom with a love of science and realize that they can be anything they want to be,” Ms. Heitert said.

“Nicole has the biggest heart for students, teachers, and the entire school community,” said Seckman Middle Principal Courtney Meagher. “She makes learning fun and engaging and students truly want to be in class with Nicole.”

Nicole not only shares her passion for science education with students but teachers as well. Nicole has served on the science curriculum writing team to revise the middle school science curriculum and leads professional development on curriculum and technology for teachers at Seckman Middle School and around the district.

Ms. Heitert has made a clear impact on many students and families throughout her time at Seckman Middle School. “My son trusts her and considers her to be one of the best teachers that he has ever had,” said one parent. “She always puts students first and brings out the best in them.”

To become a building Teacher of the Year, and to qualify for the District honor, teachers must be nominated by a fellow teacher, administrator, parent, or student. They must then complete a comprehensive application process to demonstrate excellence both inside and outside the classroom.

“Selecting a District Teacher of the Year from our pool of dedicated, thoughtful educators is extremely difficult,” said Superintendent Nisha Patel. “I cannot express how thankful I am for each and every one of our staff members who make countless sacrifices to better the lives of students. We have phenomenal staff here. A special congratulations to Nicole for representing our district as our District Teacher of the Year! Thank you to all of our community members for nominating teachers for this honor.”

Ms. Heitert will now have the chance to represent the District as a St. Louis Regional Teacher of the Year.
