FHS Junior, Amelia Chapman won 2nd prize at Teen Elevator Pitch Competition

Arnold, MO: Fox High School junior Amelia Chapman won second prize at the St. Louis University Chaifetz School of Business Teen Elevator Pitch competition. Chapman submitted a pitch for her product EZ Hang on Instagram and was selected as a finalist out of more than 200 applicants.

To apply, Amelia created a prototype of the EZ Hang and recorded a 30-second elevator pitch to submit to the judges for the first round of the competition. “The EZ Hanger is a hanger that has two wings that are on hinges to make it easier to get shirts off of the hanger without stretching out shirts,” Amelia explained.

After being selected as a finalist, Amelia gave her elevator pitch in-person to graduate students, Business School professors, and local entrepreneurs at the competition finals which were held at the Metropolitan Square Building in downtown St. Louis. “We rode the elevator six times with two different judges each ride”, Amelia said.

Being able to compete in the Teen Elevator Pitch competition “was a truly unique experience that made me feel like an actual business owner” Amelia reflected. She had an opportunity to meet with local business owners, practice public speaking skills, and meet peers from across the region who have a passion for entrepreneurship.

Amelia’s success is no surprise to Mrs. Robin Neff, Amelia’s marketing teacher. “She is an amazing student and will be a shining success in her future career. Fox DECA is so proud of her” Mrs. Neff said.
