Uyentam “Tam” Nguyen, a senior at Fox High School, was recently given the opportunity to gain real-world leadership experience by working with the RISE Society to plan the Early to RISE Women’s Leadership Conference. Tam served on the Teen Advisory Board for the conference by providing a student’s perspective about the topics that would be beneficial for girls who are in high school and planning for their future students to learn about.

Prior to serving on the Teen Advisory Board for the Early to RISE Leadership Conference, Tam participated in the RISE Society’s RISING Leaders mentorship program. The RISING Leaders mentorship program pairs high school junior and senior girls with professional women who provide mentorship, college and career planning advice, along with guidance on how to succeed in the workplace. “My mentor Alyssa really helped me learn to manage stress and gave me the confidence to take risks,”  Tam said.

According to the RISE Society’s website, the organization works to pair professional women with the next generation of leaders to create a pipeline for success. One way RISE works to accomplish that mission is by facilitating the RISING Leaders mentorship program. This program accepts 20 girls who are juniors and seniors in high school each year. “Each mentee will be paired with a successful woman from our community and be given the chance to meet monthly to share advice and experiences, work on career goals, and learn from each other,” the website explained.
