On Tuesday, January 29, 2019, the Fox C-6 Board of Education announced Dr. Nisha Patel was selected as the district’s next superintendent. Dr. Patel will officially begin as superintendent on July 1, 2019.

Dr. Patel was introduced by Fox C-6 Board of Education President Dawn Mullins. “We know how important the right choice is for our students, staff, and community and I am incredibly confident in the future of this district under the leadership of our next superintendent,” Mullins said. Dr. Patel issued a letter to the community, which you can read by following the link below:

Dr. Patel has proven leadership experience at the secondary level. She began her career in education in Kansas City in 1999. She worked as a high school science teacher in Kansas City Kansas and later in the Rockwood School District. Her administrative roles in Rockwood included assistant principal at Eureka High, associate principal of Lafayette High and as building principal of Crestview Middle School. Since 2016, Dr. Patel has been a part of the Fox C-6 community as Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education.

“We are thrilled by the outcome of this process,” Mullins said. “In working with the Missouri School Boards’ Association, we were able to have an efficient and comprehensive process in place to collaborate with the community and bring forward an impressive group of candidates.” Overall, 24 candidates applied for the position and the Board of Education interviewed five. “Our community provided clear direction in their priorities and I am confident Dr. Patel will be able to keep our focus on students and their success.”

Dr. Patel earned her Ed.D in Administrative Leadership from Maryville University in 2012. In addition, she holds masters degrees in Science Education from the University of Kansas and in Administration from Missouri Baptist University.

Dr. Patel's Letter to the Community

Dear Fox C-6 Families,

It is an honor to write to you and introduce myself as the next Superintendent of Fox C-6.  The Board of Education went through an extensive process to find the right person to continue this district’s history of achievement, character, and excellence. I am incredibly humbled by their faith in me and look forward to working with all of our stakeholders to continue to lead this district towards success.

While I have been a proud member of the Fox C-6 community since 2016, I want to take a moment to share with you a little more about myself. I received my Bachelor’s in Science Education at the University of Kansas, including getting my teaching certification and Masters in Science Education. I then completed my Masters in Administration through Missouri Baptist and my Doctorate at Maryville University. I began teaching High School Science in Kansas City, Kansas before moving to the St. Louis area where I taught before becoming a high school assistant principal, a high school associate principal, and a middle school principal. Most of my career was spent in Rockwood School District, but for the past three years, I have been here at Fox C-6 as the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools. I have learned much and grown from each of these roles and it has helped me prepare to lead the Fox School District.

My commitment is to making student centered decisions and I believe in my heart that anything is possible for our kids. Our role is to provide students with every opportunity we can to ensure their continued success in college, career, and life. My family (which consists of my parents, one brother, two sisters and many nieces and nephews) is a daily reminder of what is truly important in life.  I have been raised to believe that hard work, determination, excellence in all that you do, and building relationships based on mutual respect and trust for every person is the cornerstone of success. Throughout my life, I have been fortunate to be surrounded by individuals that are grounded on the same beliefs and I take pride in supporting them to be their best version of themselves.  A few years ago, I developed a personal mission statement, which I try to live by daily: through my actions, empower others to help change the world! I feel this mission statement holds me accountable to my actions in helping others and is something that I will continue to do for all Fox C-6 students and staff.

Over the next few months, I hope to get to know you even better as I work with Dr. Wipke, the staff, and the community to serve our students and other stakeholders in this new capacity.  Once the 2019-2020 school year starts, my goal is to be in every classroom at least once a quarter to continue to build relationships with students, staff, and parents. Every decision that we make will be connected to our Comprehensive School Improvement Plan that was developed by our community to guide our work for the next few years. I will also be using social media and will soon have a new twitter handle that you can follow me on to see regular updates on all the positive things happening in the district.

As we begin this next chapter of our journey as a district, I once again thank you for giving me this opportunity. I am honored to partner with our students, staff, and parents to ensure that Fox C-6 is a district where every child enters with a promise and leaves with a purpose.

Together, we will continue to rise strong, Fox C-6 Strong!
