District UPDATES

Dear Fox C-6 Family,

I want to thank each of you for another wonderful semester!  The first semester of the 2017/2018 school year has been a success for several reasons.  As I continue to visit with schools, staff members and community members, I am so pleased with the constant show of Love, Service, and Care for our students.  A recent example of this is Mark Fauke, one of our bus drivers, who heard of a student losing his reading glasses down a storm sewer while waiting for his bus.  Mark actually took the time after his routes to drive his personal vehicle back to the bus stop to fish the glasses out of the storm sewer.  Indeed… Love, Service and Care! Examples of this kind of dedication happen every day across our district.

It has been an intense semester full of many accomplishments and student learning.  In fact, over the past few years, much has been accomplished and at lightning speed.  The 6th grade transition, major renovations and maintenance and custodial work, curriculum writing, budget adjustments, PLC work, early childhood expansion, and the beginning of preparation for the new high school schedule are just a few of the things helping our students have more opportunities.  Most importantly, treating our students just like Mark Fauke, with Love, Service, and Care continues to be our top priority.

The job of an educator is not understood by many. Although it is a job with its own type of compliments and recognitions, it is also a calling unlike any other because it carries a strong sense of urgency as every decision we make affects the future and wellbeing of our students and the community of which we are a part.

It is only natural to be ready for a break in the action!  It is time to relax and rejuvenate a bit over the winter break.  The other day I saw a message posted on social media that brought me back to the importance of the Holidays.  It made reference to not buying presents, but being present with your family during the winter break.  It also mentioned that it is more important to wrap a family member in a hug than to wrap a gift for them.  These two points really hit home with me.  I will be sure to put that cell phone away and do a better job of listening to my family and loved ones over the break, and although I have never been shy on hugs for my kids and family I think I will give my dad a couple extra hugs this Holiday season.

I want to thank you for all you do for our children in the Fox C6 School District.  We are stronger than ever in our district!

Please know that the Wipke family wishes you and your loved ones a very blessed Holiday!

Sincerely,

Dr. Jim Wipke Superintendent Fox C-6 Schools
